Frequently Asked Questions
We believe informed patients make the best progress. Below, you’ll find answers to the questions we’re asked most often - from how chiropractic works to what you might feel after treatment. If there's anything you'd like to ask that isn't covered here, just give us a call.
Do I have a slipped disc?
The disc is a soft, pulpy 'shock absorber.' It has a fibrous outer ring which holds in a jelly-like material. A 'slipped disc' is a common way to refer to a wide variety of problems. A disc can't slip because of the way it attaches to the spinal bones above and below it. A disc can bulge. A disc can tear. It can herniate. It can thin. It can dry out and it can collapse. It can't slip.
Do I have a pinched nerve?
A pinched nerve is rare. It is more likely that an adjacent spinal bone irritates, stretches, rubs or chafes a nerve. These subluxations distort the nerve messages sent between the brain and the body. This can produce unhealthy alterations to the organs and tissues connected by the affected nerves.
What's an adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustments usually involve a quick thrust that helps add motion to spinal joints that aren't moving correctly. Some methods use the doctor's hands, an instrument, a special table or the force of gravity. There are many ways to adjust the spine.
Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
Yes. Studies have found that adjustments are "remarkably safe." By avoiding drugs and risky surgery, chiropractic care enjoys an excellent track record. A thorough exam can identify the rare person for whom chiropractic care might be unsuitable. Compare the statistics.
How much does it cost?
We believe in transparent pricing, with no hidden costs or commitments. Please visit our Fees Page - to view our transparent pricing for chiropractic assessments and follow-up treatments. Simple, fair fees with no hidden costs. Insurance accepted.
Will I feel sore after treatment?
Some patients may feel mild soreness or fatigue after their first few sessions. This is a normal part of your body adjusting, especially if spinal misalignments have been present for a long time. Any discomfort typically passes within 24–48 hours.
Will adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are "locked up" receive adjustments. This allows weakened muscles and ligaments to stabilise and heal.
Can bones move too much?
Highly unlikely. A chiropractic adjustment is special. It has the right amount of energy, delivered to an exact spot, at a precise angle, at just the right time. The intent is to get a "stuck" spinal joint moving again, helping to reduce nerve interference. Chiropractors undergo years of training and practice, which means they have the experience and knowledge required to ensure chiropractic adjustments are specific, safe and effective.
What makes the sound during an adjustment?
Lubricating fluids separate the bones of each spinal joint. Some adjusting methods can produce a sound when the gas and fluids in the joint shift. It's much like opening a bottle of champagne or removing a suction cup. The sound is interesting, but it isn't a guide to the quality or value of the adjustment.
Can I adjust myself?
No. Some people can make their joints "pop", but that's not an adjustment! Worse, damage can occur by mobilising a joint with weakened muscles and ligaments. Adjustments are specific and take years to master. Even your chiropractic doctor must consult a colleague for an adjustment to benefit from chiropractic care.
How many adjustments will I need?
The number of adjustments varies with each patient and his / her individual goals. Many patients sense progress within a week or two of frequent visits. Visits become less frequent as your spine stabilises. In chronic cases, complete healing can take months or even years.
Will I receive any medication for my pain?
No. Chiropractic doctors don't dispense medications. Because we rely on natural methods, we can show you how to use ice to control painful symptoms. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the side effects of pain medications.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with us. However, if we believe your condition requires input from another healthcare provider, we’ll let you know and guide you accordingly.

I highly recommend Earlsdon Chiropractic. Manny and her team are caring, welcoming and make everyone feel at ease. I've been suffering with lower back and hip pain for 3 years and the treatment I receive here has really made a difference in pain management and my overall wellbeing. Definitely my favourite form of self care so big thanks to Manny and her team for providing such a great service ❤️
I cannot speak highly enough about the incredible care I've received from Manny. Thanks to her expertise and dedication, I've been able to lead a life free from back issues and limitations. As someone with a desk job, staying active has always been a challenge. However, since starting treatment with Manny, I've experienced a remarkable transformation. Not only have my back issues become a thing of the past, but I've also been able to push my boundaries and engage in activities I never thought possible.
I would like to thank Manny and the team for an amazing service and support they have provided me over the last two weeks. The reception staff are warm and welcoming. I have been suffering from lower back and hip pain and within two weeks I have been able to get back into physical sports and activities. Manny is very knowledgeable and can get to the root of the pain very easily.
A great experience every time I visit. The staff are fantastic, they'll make you feel welcome, and upon your first visit put you at ease about any reservations you may have. The treatment is fantastic and I can't recommend them enough.
I had sudden lower back pain and at times couldn't walk or sit. My husband looked for Chiropractice in coventry. Found Earlsdon with suitable appointments. I have to say I was initially very sceptical as had not done such practice before and didn't seem to be anything big. I was amazed at how I felt following 1st session with Mann. I did 4 sessions which have cured my problem. Obviously I have to watch and see bit am happy with the results so far. The team from reception are wonderful.
Manny is just amazing, she really takes her time and gets to the bottom of the problem. I felt very relaxed and comfortable at all timesWould hight recommend in every level. The best money iv spent
I would like to thank manny & the staff. I found it difficult to walk any distance without giving me lower back pain. Within half an hour manny had diagnosed the problem and explained why i was getting the pain and what treatment was needed. Manny & the receptionist are very friendly and put you at ease straight away.
The service and care I received has been amazing.Manny was able to get the root cause of a discomfort I'd been having for months.I experienced relief after my first appointment and the pain was completely gone by my 4th appointment.Thank you!
I have had problems with my back and neck for many years and has caused me so much pain and discomfort. I knew it was going to be a long process to find any relief from treatment, so I started at 2 times per week and after a couple of sessions, I could feel better movement and less tension, especially in my neck. I have so much more freedom in my joints and muscles and life is how it should be and I only go every 2 weeks, I could probably manage 3 weeks, but I do so much DIY that I prefer to keep it at every 2 weeks. Manny is brilliant and has a great way with her clients and she has a brilliant team to welcome you in and put you at ease. I can't recommend her enough.
My son had his first appointment today and all I can say is wow! From the moment we stepped in to the clinic we were made to feel so welcome. The receptionist Emma was lovely and so helpful. As for manny, she was just incredible. Not only has she massively improved my sons pain, she was extremely professional and explained everything she was doing, in a way myself and my son could understand. He is so happy to have such a huge relief from the pain he’s been experiencing for such a long time. He’s really looking forward to his next appointment.
Have been with a chiropractor for many years. More than I would ever like to admit and after my one retired, I was back & forth between the 2 that had taken over but never left there 100% happy. So I made the decision to move to Earlsdon Chiroprac. Manny and her staff Emma, Ruth are always friendly and willing to help. Manny has worked hard to get myself up and running again and going longer between sessions like my original chiropractor. I could never be happier with all she has done for me. And highly recommend her to anyone that needs her help.
